Help - This web site
Format:
I use the Wordpress 2.0 blog script to run this page. It’s a blog.
I will post various announcements and such in the center column. These posts will move down the page as new content is added.
On the sidebars are lots of links you will need (and some you don’t).
RSS:
RSS (usually) stands for Really Simple Syndication. It’s a way to get automatic updates from a website delivered to your computer without having to actually go to that website.
- To find out how to do this, see this page at the BBC.
Got a mac? Save my RSS feeds in Safari and then see how to turn your screensaver into flying RSS headlines! (from any site, not just mine)
You can also use Netvibes.com to keep track of RSS feeds. (and lots of other personalized content too!)
Pop-Up Windows: (dead links)
Many links on this site are pop-up links. You will need to disable any Pop-Up Window blockers on your computer. (Try searching Google to see how to do this.)
If you encounter a real dead link, please let me know.
Calendar
There is a help link at the top of the calendar.
If the calendar link does not seem to be working, see “Pop-Up Windows” above.
You can subscribe to the physics calendar at the following address. (You can also right-click and copy the link)
webcal://www.planetlanham.com/calendars/calendars/Physics%20Fall%202006.ics
(See the Help page on the calendar for more details including which (free!) software you can use to subscribe to my calendar)
If you are using Google Calendar the address to subscribe to my calendar is:
http://www.planetlanham.com/calendars/calendars/Physics%20Fall%202006.ics
(Under your calendars, click “Manage Calendars” and then click “Add Calendar”)
This also works if you use something like Netvibes.com as your homepage.
The Calendar script is also RSS enabled. (see above)
Documents and Downloads Folder
There is a help link on the main page of the “Documents and Downloads” page as well as on every page therein.
Comments
Yes, this is a blog. Register if you would like to leave comments in posts. (Look for the “Register” link in the sidebar.) I’m hoping I’ve taken the appropriate measures to keep out comment spam, but if it gets bad I’ll have to close comments.
This is a classroom blog - any innapropriate comments will be removed and disciplinary action may be taken.
